How to Shift your Mindset

Feeling a little stuck? I got you.

I've been thinking a lot about the power of our mind in shaping our life and shifting our moods. A thought can quite literally change our day or completely turn our emotions. So how do we keep our thoughts in check? Your list may look totally different to mine, I think we all know what's good for us. Each one of us has a different list but it's about practising the things that make us feel good as often as possible!

These are the activities I choose to endeavour in when I'm feeling stuck.

Something I find very helpful is writing in the form of a daily journal. This started for me with the book "The Artist Way". The writer, Julia Cameron, recommends filling three A4 pages as a flow of consciousness - whatever is in your head. You empty all your feelings and thoughts out onto the page, without thinking too much about it.
Some prompts could be "how am I feeling today?" "what do I want to achieve?" "what am I grateful for?" see what happens. Might feel silly at first but it certainly works!

Practicing yoga is great to calm the nervous system. Meditation is wonderful tool to tap into the present and listen to our body. Chatting to the people you love always helps see things from a fresh perspective, to ground us and feel supported.

Working out helps us to release static tension in the body, develop strength, look after our health and get some endorphins flowing! You will never regret a workout. 

These are just some of the things that help me, find what makes you smile, what sets you alight?

Write down a list, look at that list whenever you need it.
