2nd CHAKRA, THE SVADHISTHANA CHAKRA ( SACRAL CHAKRA )

This Chakra represents our creativity and sexuality.

It is located above the sacrum, 3 inches below the navel.

It includes the genital region and the hypogastric plexus.

The word Svadhistana means “the dwelling place of the self”

This second Chakra is closely connected to our creativity and sexuality as well as our emotions and sense of self worth.

This Chakra is considered our pleasure centre; when we are connected to the Svadhisthana, we are comfortable with our sexuality, we feel powerful, worthy and we enjoy a healthy sex life.

A balanced second chakra helps us to let go of past hurt.

Habitual patterns tend to be stored around our hips and at the base of the spine in this 2nd Chakra; to release these emotions try the poses indicated for this Chakra below.

When this chakra is out of balance, one may experience emotional instability, fear of change, sexual dysfunction, depression, or addictions.

When this Chakra is in alignment, we are creatively flowing through life, capable of throwing ourselves into our creative projects with a feeling of abundance and flow. We experience abundance, wellness, pleasure and joy.

This Chakra is physically related to the genitals, reproductive organs, sacrum, hips, bladder, kidneys and influences anything liquid or fluid function in the body… Menstruation, orgasms, tears, memory glands, perspiration because of its connection with the element of water. The idea of going with the flow, letting things flow as they are, without being stuck in our ways is experienced when this chakra is regulated.
