Watermelon Weekly Wrap #17

Hello Warriors,
Happy Monday!

I am back in London and loving the heatwave. Before I head to work I wanted to share my highlights from the past week :)

LISTENING

I am currently listening to a lot of the Huberman Lab podcast. This episode on grief particularly stood out to me. https://podcastnotes.org/huberman-lab/episode-74-the-science-process-of-healing-from-grief-huberman-lab/ Understanding the science behind it, may help us process the emotion in a more rational way because we understand what the brain is going through, healing could become easier when we break down the process and reasoning behind it.

GRATITUDE

Yoga on a rooftop terrace overlooking London, the dream!

This week I was back teaching yoga in person after almost a year of just teaching online! With my PT business I found it hard to do both but I am so happy to be outdoors teaching wonderful humans, this was on the rooftop of the Expedia offices. Thanks Louise for organising it all :) I had a blast. Can’t wait for the next one.

I am also feeling so grateful for my new place (I have moved house in London), a roof over my head and a nice bright room with skylights.

READING

I am revisiting “Why We Sleep” by Matthew Walker this week. A fascinating piece of work! Understanding the science and the immense benefits of sleep is so crucial.

TASTING

When I went to Darvina's retreat a few weeks ago, Jeni the chef made a completely vegan meal.

It was incredible! The highlight for me was the Pea Guacamole. I tried it myself yesterday and it was so delicious and refreshing, especially in the heat! Many asked for the recipe on Instagram when I shared it so here it is!

PEA GUACAMOLE

in a blender mix the following ingredients

Mint Leaves

Coriander

Frozen Peas (pour hot water over them and drain before blending)

Olive Oil

Salt and Pepper to taste

I find it better when it’s not blended too much where some of the peas aren’t completely mushy - adds a little more texture!

This is a much more sustainable way of eating guacamole! Read this article to undestand the environmental consequences of the overuse of avocados https://www.greenmatters.com/p/avocado-environmental-impact

PIECE OF THE WEEK

Today’s piece of the week is from Mary Oliver about letting joy do its thing, and not resisting it.

“If you suddenly and unexpectedly feel joy, don’t hesitate. Give in to it. There are plenty of lives and whole towns destroyed or about to be. We are not wise, and not very often kind. And much can never be redeemed. Still life has some possibility left. Perhaps this is its way of fighting back, that sometimes something happened better than all the riches or power in the world. It could be anything, but very likely you notice it in the instant when love begins. Anyway, that’s often the case. Anyway, whatever it is, don’t be afraid of its plenty. Joy is not made to be a crumb. (Don't Hesitate)”

Thanks for reading. What do you feel grateful for? What did you love last week?
