Watermelon Weekly Wrap #20

Hello Warriors,
Happy New Week...

My birthday celebrations are already in full swing. I had the best day with my family yesterday and you can see below, all that we ate! What a treat. I felt so spoilt!

So grateful to have a wonderful family, I don’t get to see them often but when I do, it’s all the more special. If you are reading, famiglia, vi voglio bene!

LISTENING

I am still listening to a lot of the Huberman Lab podcast so here’s an easily digestible snippet of some of his advice about habits and goals.

GRATITUDE

Grateful to be above everything for a while… Non-contactable and having a birds eye view on the world and my thoughts, no one to speak to, just pure rest.

I am so excited to get back to teaching Yoga in Clissold Park this Saturday! I can’t wait :)

Next one is Saturday 13th August 10 am! Would love to have you there.

BOOK HERE for Saturday or book 4 sessions of your choice for £45 here

READING

I’ve finished reading Why Has Nobody Told Me This Before? by Dr Julie Smith that I started last week… Really insightful. Finding the simple explanations for potential psychological set-backs like stress and anxiety very actionable and profound. I can’t wait to put them into use and do some of the journal prompts from the book. I am featuring one of my favourite sentences from the book in “PIECE OF THE WEEK”

TASTING

This is where it all gets very interesting because I was in Rome for a long weekend, strap yourselves in and only look at these gluttonous dishes if you’ve eaten!

  1. This first one was sushi with Tuna and Watermelon, I was in heaven! from this amazing organic sushi restaurant my dad Marco brought us to called “Ramè

  2. This was called “Mediterraneo” blue fin mediterranean tuna with iceberg lettuce, fennel and dried spice ganache

  3. My dad got this one “Assoluto di Mare” the absolute of the sea. Amberjack, salmon and tuna trio topped with red shrimp and Ramè salsa.

  4. For Dessert we opted for a three different ones to share, the first was a pistachio di Bronte and ricotta cream with white chocolate and pistachio bark.

  5. I am a Mochi appassionata so I went for it! This was a cherry flavoured one. Lovely.

  6. My Granny “Nonna” Sofia went for this Peanut Semifreddo (a sort of cross between ice cream and mousse) with peach jam, crumbled peanuts and salted caramel sauce, amazing!

  7. Yesterday evening we went back to one of our favourite local vegan restaurants called Romeow pictured here are FitoPlankton Spaghetti with Oysterleaf, salicornia, courgettes, capers and yellow tomato coulis. Such a strong flavour and so healthy! Some of those I didn’t know how to translate as I don’t even know what they are in italian. All I know is that they are delicious!

  8. Last but not least, my sister Palma’s amazing homemade Panncotta with Blackberry coulis, freshly picked by my mam Judy and brother Liam. What a family of chefs! Apart from me haha!

  9. Not pictured as I ate it too fast, the amazing Gricia that my dad made with pecorino cheese, pepper and guanciale. Grazie papo!

I had not had sugar for three weeks prior to this, I will stay on it for the week of my birthday and my birthday (tomorrow) to enjoy all the treats and then go back off it as my body is happier when off sugar but special occasions are special occasions and I believe must be celebrated with delicious treats!

BUON APPETITO and definitely check out https://ramesushi.it/ and https://www.romeowcatbistrot.com/ if you are living in or visiting Rome but want something a little different to the classic pizza and pasta!

My stomach is still happy after this lovely time spent eating great food with great people.

PIECE OF THE WEEK

Today’s piece of the week is another quote from Dr Julie Smith’s it’s simple but it really stood out and is teaching me what acceptance really means in relation to death in this case.

Why Has Nobody Ever Told Me This Before?

“Acceptance is not saying that death is something we want. It is giving up the struggle against the parts of our reality that we cannot control.”

Incredibly hard to do but a life of work on acceptance and peace could get us there.

Thanks for reading. What do you feel grateful for? What did you enjoy last week?
