Watermelon Weekly Wrap #6
Hello Warriors,
Happy New Week, New WWW #6
I hope you’ve had a great week.
Every week, I round up the favourite things I’m experiencing, listening to, tasting, noticing, reading…
EXPERIENCING
In the early hours of Wednesday, I was on the tube and I saw a father helping his daughter do his homework, it made me smile. (below)
On Sunday I was reunited with Darvina Plante - upside down of course.
She was teaching at Triyoga in Shoreditch, I had been meaning to explore that space for a long time and it was fantastic to finally work on my inversions again, in a safe and supportive class setting.
Darvina always pushes the group in a fun and encouraging manner.
After the Inversions class, we caught up and chatted about life, love, our higher wisdom and the power of doing hard work. Here is she is (below) her encouraging energy really helped me shift some of the heaviness I had been feeling during the weekend.
I asked her about how she taps into her higher wisdom….She said, it’s in moments of stillness that we truly can listen to our body’s and minds’ needs, not in fight or flight, which reminded me to keep going back to the practice, to sit in stillness or move. To listen to the breath. Thank you D!
LISTENING
Found this talk (above) between Brené Brown and Tim Ferriss quite beautiful and very apt for where I was at.
Went back to this podcast S 1 Ep 4 Best Friend Therapy: Imposter Syndrome
Elizabeth Day and her best friend Emma Reed-Turrell who is a therapist.
Hearing them out, made me feel better about my Imposter Syndrome.
I watched Natacha Oceane’s latest video Everything I Eat in a Day: HEALTHY + EASY Meals! on the coach back from Devon and I laughed so much. She’s one of my heroes. I adore her message, her vibe and the relationship that her and Mario cherish so gratefully. I also love the food and the workouts obvz!
TASTING
GRATITUDE
I am feeling rested and ready to go back to work after my break.
I feel grateful for the peace, the pause, the rest.
I feel grateful for the coast.
I feel grateful for the sea.
What are you feeling gratitude toward?
READING
I have nearly finished “The Body Keeps the Score” by Bessel van der Kolk first recommended by my Aunt Nic and subsequently many others.
I am taking a long time to read and digest it, it’s quite simply brain-changing. It’s a lot but so many teachings about connection between brain, body and trauma. A book that I will go back to again and again to gain more of an understanding of my own brain and the brain/behaviours of others. More from this next week, when I have (hopefully) concluded it.
PIECE OF THE WEEK
This is a Mary Oliver poem. The perfect spring words.
I will miss you, dear April, and all the new life you brought with you.
Thanks for reading. What do you feel grateful for? What did you love last week?
Email me or DM me to let me know last week’s highlights.
